OHello, everyone!

First, PUMPKIN ALERT! Our own Colin Watts will turn 18 tomorrow and
will officially become an ADULT. (Chronologically speaking, anyway.)
Happy Birthday, Colin!

B. What an amazingly beautiful weekend! Spring has finally sprung,
and about dang time. Had a great time outside over the past few days.

#3. Saw The Avengers. Am I wrong in saying one of the most fun
movies ever? LOVED IT!

OK, here's what you need to know this week.

THIS WEEK'S MEETING: Lashing! Hurray! Come and hone your skills
and plan your patrol's catapult for the culmination of Medieval
Artillary month in three weeks.

Also, we'll plan for cooks for the camporee. Please consider stepping up!

SATURDAY: Scouting for Food. Joey Ramada is planning the drivers
and routes for picking up donations. Please let me know ASAP if you
have a conflict that cannot be avoided so Joey can adjust his plans.

NEXT WEEK: More lashing! Hurray!

Cool upcoming stuff:

May 18-20: Spring Camporee

Friday, June 1: Josh Sharp's Eagle Scout Court of Honor. 7:00 at
the First Congregational Church of Essex Junction.

Wed., June 6: Advancement deadline for end of the year. Last chance
for MBs, SM conferences, Boards of Review. Do me a favor, and please
don't wait until the last minute to let me know you'll need to
schedule a conference and/or board. I know a few of you have already
emailed me and I'll be talking with you this week to set up your
conferences. Also, if you're missing any MBs you've earned, please
let me know ASAP. I want to make sure they're all up to date before
summer.

Wed., June 13: Troop Court of Honor. You'll receive all the swag
you've earned since the October Court of Honor. Families should
attend too!

That's probably not everything, but it's all I can think of at the
moment. Please let me know if I've forgotten anything.

See you all on Wednesday!

Troop 635 - C'mon, guys. This is serious scouting.
OK, I know I'm back to work but I must still be in vacation mode, because it's 9:20 on Tuesday night and it just occurred to me that I haven't done the weekly update yet!

SO, here's the scoop.

THIS WEEK: Last merit badge/TFC week. Bring your MB homework and/or your books.

NEXT WEEK: LASHING! Remember, you can't build a killer catapult if you can't lash. So BE THERE!

PLC: Meeting next week, May 9th, 5:45.

SAVE THE DATE: Please join Josh Sharp and his family as they celebrate his achievement of the rank of Eagle Scout! The ceremony will be on Friday, June 1, at 7:00 PM at the First Congregational Church of Essex Junction (the big brick church on Main Street). Invitations will go out soon. Meanwhile, you can go ahead and RSVP to Mrs. Sharp at 879-0580 or andrea.sharp@gmail.com. Don't miss it!

OK, that's about all for now. I will not be at the meeting this week (Rob and I will be celebrating our 20th wedding anniversary on Wednesday), so I'll see you all next week. Have a great meeting, and feel free to email or call me this week if you need anything. Except money. If you need money, ask your parents. I love you guys, but seriously...

Troop 635 - C'mon, guys. This is serious scouting.
Hello, all!

So, what's new? I'm back among the living after a nasty bug that
pretty much kicked my butt last week. Big thanks to everyone for
covering for me last Wednesday so I could stay home and wallow in my
misery. (OK, pity party is done. Moving on.) Our family had a great
time at the gold medal game of the women's hockey world championship
on Saturday. Awesome game that ended in a disappointing overtime USA
loss to Canada, but great fun to watch. (Even a couple of girl-fights
on the ice!) As for my beloved Bruins, they also lost in overtime on
Saturday (not a great hockey day for the Field family), and they're
not looking so hot tonight. (Give me a moment for another mini
pity-party...........................OK, I'm good.) Stay tuned to
this channel for upates on all the Bruins playoff action.

Whoops, I digress. Here's what you need to know this week:

First, there's an attachment for the camporee. Don't miss the
attachment for the camporee, since I had the presence of mind to
actually attach it this time.

THIS WEEK'S MEETING: Merit badges and TFC requirements continue.
Don't forget any homework assigned last week. Please feel free to
bring along any partial MB work to be signed off as well. I know that
Mr. Perry will be on hand to sign off Citizenships if you have any
partials. TFC guys, be sure to have your books!

SUMMER CAMP PAYMENT: This week is the last meeting before your
second installment ($100) of the summer camp fee is due. Otherwise,
you'll need to make other arrangements to have your payment to me by
April 25th to keep your early-bird discount. I will be around during
vacation week, however if at all possible I'd really love to have all
the payments in so I don't have to worry about it too much during the
week. As before, if this presents any difficulty for you, please feel
free to speak to me in confidence.

SPRING CAMPOREE:: May 18-20. Council, in its always kind and
courteous manner, has just informed us that we need to ***register by
May 1. *** So... cost is $20 for the weekend. The camporee is at
St. Michael's College and Camp Johnson. No specific details have yet
been announced regarding events, but they always come up with some
good stuff. Since it's so close, I'll leave it to you to arrange any
carpools you'd like amongst yourselves. Please return the attached
permission slip and your 20 bucks this week if you'd like to go. As
with the summer camp payment, if you're not around this week please
make sure to get in touch with me during the break.

BON VOYAGE: Join me in wishing our Waterbury boys, Ethan and Ben,
safe travels ~ they're off to Italy and Greece on Wednesday with their
Latin class. Have an awesome time, guys!

NEXT WEEK'S MEETING: Psych! Vacation! Have a great week!

OK, SO, THE NEXT WEEK'S MEETING: Last MB/TFC meeting.

UPCOMING EVENTS:

WED., MAY 2: Should be a PLC meeting, but it's also my 20th
wedding anniversary and I think the ever-patient-and-supportive Rob
might prefer that I spend it with him, so let's put it off until the
9th.

WED., MAY 9 AND 16: We'll kick off Medieval Artillary Month by
perfecting our lashing in preparation for our trebuchet launch on May
23rd. Don't miss these lashing meetings, lest your lashings prove
inadequate and your catapult fail in an epic manner!

SAT., MAY 12: SCOUTING FOR FOOD! 8:00 - early afternoon, usually
done around 1. Remember, this is one of the very few mandatory events
for our troop, and in my opinion, one of the most rewarding things we
do. We'll collect enough food to feed many, many hungry families over
the summer. You will receive service hours for this event. If you
are unable to attend, please see me to discuss. Scouts are excused
for legitimate religious events; most other reasons will require
make-up service before any rank advancement. ***We need drivers to
sign up for this event! Please see Joe Ramada this week if you're
available.

FRI-SUN, MAY 18-20: Spring Camporee ~ see above and return $$ and
permission slip.

WED., JUNE 6: Last day for any MB or advancement requirements,
scoutmaster conferences, or boards of review. If you will be needing
a SM conference or BoR on that day, please let me know ASAP so I can
plan accordingly and have the necessary adults available. For those
who have no requirements to address on this day, there'll be a killer
game of Ultimate Frisbee.

WED., JUNE 13: Spring Court of Honor! Bring your families!
You'll all receive the bling you've earned since the last CoH in
October. We'll bid a fond farewell to our graduating scouts, too. (I
really hate that part.) Rather than a barbeque, we'll be having a
dessert party at EMS. Since we have a lot to do, we'll start at 6:00.
As we get closer, we'll assign each patrol to bring items such as
desserts, drinks, etc. Stay tuned for more information.

I think that's it for now. As always, please email or call me with
any questions or anything. (Well, not anything. Let's be reasonable,
shall we?)

In closing, the Bruins are tied 2-2 at the end of the 2nd. I know you
were wondering.

See you all on Wednesday.

Troop 635 - C'mon, guys. This is serious scouting.
Greetings, all!

HELP! Merit badge counselors desparately needed this week! (And next week...) Our plans for the MB month of April have been difficult to bring together. As of now we have Citizenship in the World with Mr. Watts, and Soil and Water Conservation with Mr. Thompson. Sooooooooooooo, if you are a MB counselor and are able to come to any or all of our April meetings (and the first meeting in May), please let me know ASAP, (or just show up on Wednesday.) We'll just have to wait and see what's available on Wednesday. Think of it as an exciting surprise, yet to be discovered!

Anyhoo, here's what you need to know for this week:

PLC MEETING: If you are a member of the Patrol Leader Council, please be at EMS at 5:45 on Wednesday.

THIS WEEK'S MEETING: Merit badges and TFC requirements. Please feel free to bring along any partial MB work to be signed off as well. TFC guys, be sure to have your books!

NEXT WEEK'S MEETING: Ditto.

P-FIT GUYS: This just in from Mr. T: "Well our last P-Fit Session is scheduled for Sunday March 8th which also happens to be Easter. I’m sure a lot of you have plans on Easter to visit family, hunt for eggs, eat chocolate, etc. So I’m proposing that we meet at RE at 1 PM on Saturday, March 7th. Please let me know ASAP if this date and time will work for you. Have a great day!" bob.thompson@vt.usda.gov

THANK YOU to all of you who attended Mark Furland's Eagle Scout Court of Honor on Saturday. It was a great afternoon (and the food was most excellent!). HUGE congratulations to Mark, his family, and his hair.

SUMMER CAMP PAYMENT: A reminder, your second installment ($100) of the summer camp fee is due by April 25th to keep your early-bird discount. As before, if this presents any difficulty for you, please feel free to speak to me in confidence.

Guess that's all for now. See you all on Wednesday, same Bat-time, same Bat-channel. (For all of you ridiculously young people, that means same time, same place as usual. Don't worry. Your parents got it.)

Hey, guys!

Wow, what a great week we had! Summertime weather was awesome. Not
that any of you boys care, but my daffodils were in full bloom by the
end of last week. (Your moms will appreciate that, OK?) And if you
didn't get a chance to see the EHS production of The Importance of
Being Earnest, you missed out. Colin Watts, Josh Sharp, and Tom
Pelchat all gave great performances. Mark Furland was there on the
technical side behind the scenes. Then on the weekend, we had a great
time at the TFC winter campout at Mt. Norris. No snow, but no icy
cold weather either! We had 8 of our newest scouts complete their
Scout rank requirements and receive their neckerchiefs and slides.

Here's what you need to know this week.

1. THIS WEEK'S MEETING: We'll be joined by two chemistry wizards
from UVM for what is sure to be a very impressive chemistry
demonstration. Thanks to Mrs. Dunbar for arranging the evening for
us. We'll also hold our Order of the Arrow election at the beginning
of the meeting.

2. MARK FURLAND'S EAGLE SCOUT COURT OF HONOR: EVERYONE is invited!
This Saturday at 4:00 at Memorial Hall in Essex! Lasagna dinner after
the ceremony! If you haven't already, please RSVP! This is going to
be a lot of fun. Don't miss it! Or you'll force me to use the ! yet
again!

3. APRIL MERIT BADGE MONTH: Still trying to nail down counselors.
If you are a merit badge counselor and are available on Wednesday
nights during April, please let me know ASAP. Thanks!

4. CONGRATULATIONS: Kudos to the following scouts on earning their
Scout rank: Ross Macy, Timmy Yandow, Kurt Dirmaier, Riley Luck, Drew
Marcotte, Kegan Bergeron, Sam Evans and Jeremy Brennan. Excellent
job, guys!

The hockey game is on now, so I'm going to leave it at that. Please
call me if you have any questions.

See you all tomorrow.

Scoutmaster Steph

Troop 635 - C'mon, guys. This is serious scouting.
Hey, everyone.

I hope you're all enjoying this amazing weather! Can't believe it's only mid-March and most of my spring yard cleanup is done. Excellent.

I'm a little under the weather, so I'll make this quick.

THIS WEEK'S MEETING: Funky Food Night! Be thinking about the
strangest, most far-out food that (here's the catch) YOU ARE WILLING
TO EAT. I'm hoping everyone will bring something to share and sample.
(Please cook it at home.) As far as I'm aware we have no food
allergies in the troop (if you have one, please let me know ASAP), so
go nuts. Literally, nuts are OK.

TFC GUYS: Please review the pamphlet in the front of your books with your parents
before this week's meeting and have them sign it. You guys will be working on some
early requirements this week.

HIGH SCHOOL PLAY: Come out this weekend to see three of our guys, Colin Watts,
Josh Sharp, and Tom Pelchat in the EHS production of "The Importance of Being Earnest".
This is one of my favorite plays! You'll have a great time at this very funny and clever show.
Tickets are 6 bucks for adults, and I'm assuming a little less for kids. Friday and Saturday
nights at 7:00. Don't miss it!

TFC NORRIS CAMPOUT: This weekend! In addition to your gear, please bring a
gallon of water. I've spoken with the ranger at Norris, and the snow is mostly gone. Looks
like it's going to be decent weather, but cooler, so please pack accordingly. Highs in the 50s,
lows in the the 30s. Sadly, sounds like we can leave the sleds at home.

STILL NEED A COOK FOR THE CAMPOUT!!!

EAGLE COURT OF HONOR FOR MARK FURLAND: Hurray! Please join Mark and
his family to celebrate this awesome achievement on Saturday, March 31
at 4:00. All scouts and families are invited - don't miss it!!!
Invites with more details to go out shortly.

UPCOMING EVENTS:
March 21: Funky Food Night
March 24: TFC Campout
March 28: Chemistry show
March 31: Mark Furland's Eagle Scout Court of Honor
May 12: Scouting for Food - mandatory event
May 18-20: Spring Camporee

OK, that's it for now. See you all tomorrow.

Hello, all!

I'm writing this very late on Monday evening because I just got home
from Gutterson Fieldhouse where we screamed and yelled and cheered on
the Essex Girls Hockey team as they beat South Burlington to win the
state championship! Go Essex!!! (They could maybe teach my Bruins a
few things these days...) I'm also feeling a bit deaf, which you'll
understand if you've ever been to a hockey game with my daughter Kate.

Anyhow, it's late, so let's get down to business. Here's what you
need to know this week.

BIRTHDAYS: We have a bunch of birthdays this week: David Fraser,
Riley Luck, Jeremy Brennan, and the big one: Josh Sharp pumpkined out
today, turning 18. (Jeez, you guys keep getting old and leaving me!)
Anyway, Happy Birthday, everyone! (Did I miss anyone? If so, please
feel free to send me a scathing email.)

SUMMER CAMP: I've sent in the first payment for Summer Camp. If
you're planning to go, haven't paid the first $100, and want the
early-bird rate, there's still hope! You can take your payment to the
Council office in Waterbury BEFORE THURSDAY, MARCH 15. Tell them
you're with Troop 635 and they'll hook you up.

THIS WEEK'S MEETING: Mad Science Night, mwah-ah-ah! Colin Watts has
promised us a night of mind-boggling scientific mayhem.
He plans to bring THINGS and DO SCIENCE to them. Don't miss it. Odds
are we'll manage to set something on fire. (Don't worry, new scout
parents. Most of the boys have their First Aid merit badges.)

NEXT WEEK'S MEETING: Funky Food Night! Be thinking about the
strangest, most far-out food that (here's the catch) YOU ARE WILLING

(Please cook it at home.) As far as I'm aware we have no food
allergies in the troop (if you have one, please let me know ASAP), so
go nuts. Literally, nuts are OK.

TFC NORRIS CAMPOUT: **DEADLINE for this is Wednesday!**
Our annual TFC (target first class) campout.
We'll take our newest recruits and some of our older scouts up to Mt.
Norris for a whirlwind of under-first-class requirements, along with
some food, some sledding (or mud-wrestling, you never know), some
food, some games, some food, some fire, oh yeah, and some food. We'll
leave early on Saturday, March 24 and be home in time for lunch on
Sunday. Remember, if you're an older scout who wants to join us,
you'll be working for your supper, helping the TFC guys bang out a
boatload of requirements. Permission slip attached.

LIBRARIAN: We are in need of a librarian for the troop. If you are
1st class or above and need a position of responsibility, please speak
to Steven Maloney or me ASAP.

EAGLE COURT OF HONOR FOR MARK FURLAND: Hurray! Please join Mark and
his family to celebrate this awesome achievement on Saturday, March 31

Hello, all!

I hope everyone has had a great week off. (I know the high school
guys have 2 more days off, but don't rub it in, OK?) All in all, it
was a pretty good week. A little snow, a little rain, a little warm,
a little cold, the Bruins won, the Bruins lost, the Canadiens did, um,
whatever, yup, not a bad week at all.

We have some very cool stuff coming up. Our new Scouts will join us
this week, so be sure to be there to welcome them to the family.
We've got some new activities planned, as well as some old favorites.
So, with very little ado, here's what you need to know this week.

VOTING BOOTHS
THIS WEEK'S MEETING

think we'll need to set up all the booths this time, so please come if
you can...many hands make light work...and lots of smudgy
fingerprints.

THIS WEEK'S MEETING: We'll welcome our new Scouts and play some cool
teamwork games. Patrol leaders, please remember the stuff you need
for your activities. Let's see everyone there this week to make our
new boys feel welcome, OK?

SUMMER CAMP: Remember, the first installment ($100) for summer camp
is due by March 10. Please try to bring it on Wednesday, otherwise
it's up to you to catch up with me by Saturday. If your payment is

friends have promised us a night of mind-boggling scientific mayhem.
Not sure what they're planning, but I know they will bring SOMETHING
and DO SCIENCE to it.

Troop 635 - C'mon, guys. This is serious scouting.
Hey, guys.

Just a quickie on this week's meeting:

We'll have some MB counselors available for e-science, communications, cinematography, cycling (indoor requirements), and for the first part of the meeting only, the Citizenships.

TFC guys, we can update your books and our records and evaluate where you are in your rank advancement.

If you're not interested in working on a MB, please bring a board game to the meeting. (No cards or electronic games, please.)

Class Bs are OK for this week.

If you're interested in the Mansfield Assault, please let me know via email ASAP. Permission slip is attached and due back to me by this Sunday, so the Pelchats can make arrangements. We still do not have a scout to lead this event, and still need one more adult to go along.

That's it for now. See you all tomorrow.

Troop 635 - C'mon, guys. This is serious scouting.
Hello, Scouts, parents, and grandparents!

Wow, what a weekend. I experienced full immersion scouting over the

past few days!
I started out by joining 4 of our 6 2011 Eagle Scouts and their
families in Montpelier on Friday for Eagle Recognition Day at the
Vermont Statehouse. Mike Fraser, Mark Furland, Kyle Boomhower, and
Jonathan Spaeth were honored, along with 25 other Eagle Scouts
present. In all, there were 69 boys who attained the rank of Eagle in
the state of Vermont in 2011. Of those, 8.7% came from Troop 635.
Our guys served as the Color Guard for the opening ceremony in the
House. A House resolution was introduced, recognizing and
congratulating the Eagles of 2011. After that there was a photo op
with the Governer, followed by a luncheon at the Capitol Plaza. It's
my understanding that Vermont is the only state that has an Eagle
Recognition Day.

On Saturday, some members of our PLC joined me at the Cub Scout Pack
635 Blue and Gold dinner, where we welcomed 10 (yup - 10!) new scouts
to our troop. (Troop Guide Cameron, better eat your Wheaties!)
They'll come to their first troop meeting on March 7. Looks like a
great group of boys who will be a great addition to our troop.

Finally, on to Scout Sunday. Josh Sharp, Jason Field, Robin Forcier,
and Jeremy Brennan (he's one of the new guys) joined with members of
Troop 624 for Scout Sunday at the First Congregational Church of Essex
Junction. The boys participated in a very nice service.

Whew, what a weekend! Oh, yeah, and the Bruins won on Saturday in a
shoot-out. Hurray!

On to troop business.

LAST WEEK: Broomball was awesome! Everyone had a great time, no
injuries occurred, and except for a short delay of game when Kevin
Donley's dog stole the ball and played keep-away for a couple of
minutes, everything went very smoothly. Many thanks to Mr. Donley for
bringing the hot cocoa!

THIS WEEK'S MEETING: Sadly, no quinzhee building this week. You
need snow for that. However, the PLC came up with a few alternative
plans, so there will be plenty of fun and hilarity on Wednesday.
We'll also start off with a little work on a scout skill to be
announced.

Keeping with the snow-less theme, no Uncle Henry's/Uncle Fraser's this
weekend. We'll try to reschedule this sometime soon.

NEXT WEEK'S MEETING: Again, weather dependent. We're supposed to
have a snowman building night, but we'll wait to see what Mother
Nature sends us.

SUMMER CAMP INFO: Our week at Mt. Norris will be July 29 - August 3.
Council, in its infinite wisdom, has set a different payment schedule
for this year, as noted below. Please let me know if this timetable
poses any difficulty for you and we'll see what we can do to help.

Mt. Norris Payment Schedule
Early Registration: $290 Regular Registration: $330 Late
Registration: $350

1st $100 per boy is due by March 10th to qualify for Early Bird Fee.

2nd $100 per boy is due by April 25th to qualify for Early Bird Fee.

$90 per boy is due by May 25th. Total Early Bird Fee is Paid. (If
this schedule is not met then the Regular rate applies until June
15th. After June 15th the late fee applies.)

MT. MANSFIELD ASSAULT: Mr. Pelchat and Tom Pelchat will take a bunch
of you up Mansfield on March 3. You'll hike up and slide down. This
is a fun overnight activity, but not just a walk in the park. Limited
to scouts age 13 and up. **WE NEED A SCOUT TO PLAN THIS EVENT. I'll
have a permission slip out later this week.

On a non-scouting yet still somewhat 635-ish note, have you seen the
new show on the History channel, "Full Metal Jousting"? If not, you
MUST check it out if you have the time. These are seriously foolish
people, but great fun to watch. And for those of you who are
wondering, no, I'm pretty sure Council will never let us try this.
(Although a jousting merit badge would be AWESOME.)

OK, I think that's it for now. As always, call or email me with any
questions. See you all on Wednesday. Class Bs are OK for this week.
That's a little thank-you for those of you who've bothered to read
this all the way to the end.

Troop 635 - C'mon, guys. This is serious scouting.
Hey, everyone!

OK, just a few things tonight.

First, I've attached the updated events calendar for the rest of the year. Please print it and do something with it that will allow you to reference it on a regular basis. Stick it to the fridge. Tape it to your door. Copy each and every event to your home calendar. Enter them into your electronic device that you're not allowed to use during meetings. Laminate it and tape it to the bathroom mirror. Just don't delete this and forget it, OK?

Second, don't miss broomball tomorrow night in Westford. Bring your broom, your boots, your gloves, hat, coat. Handwarmers wouldn't be an unwise choice. It's supposed to be REALLY cold tomorrow night, so dress accordingly. Please plan on a 7:45 pick up time. Remember, no hockey sticks or skates, please.

Third, P-Fit guys: For those boys doing P-Fit with Mr. T, we will be meeting again this Sunday (2/12) at 1 PM at Racquet's Edge in Essex.

Fourth, we'll decide on next week's activity once we get closer, depending on whether there's any snow.

OK, that's it for now. How's that for short and sweet?

See you all tomorrow.

Scoutmaster Steph
Hey, everyone.

A couple of reminders for this week:

1. PLC at 5:45 on Wednesday.

2. This week's meeting: I'm feeling like we won't be skiing or
snowshoeing this week. Since we spent all last month working on merit
badges, it would be nice to do something just for fun this week, so
let's plan on gym games. A couple of guys have suggested mat ball.

I'm also hoping that a few merit badge counselors might be available
on Wed. for anyone who would like to do some catch-up merit badge
work.

If you're a merit badge counselor who's available on Wednesday, please
let me know. I'll send out a quick e-mail tomorrow evening letting
everyone know who'll be there.

3. Next week: I'm hoping we'll still be able to play broomball at
the Westford rink, weather permitting. Stay tuned for more
information.

See you all on Wednesday.

Troop 635 - Hooray for Hollywood!
Hello, all!

First of all, Mr. Thompson asked me to pass along the following information.

1. For those scouts (and parents) who have merit badge books lying around at home collecting dust, can you please gather them up and bring them back to the troop library next week. Thanks!

2. PFit MB Reminder! Those boys working on their PFit MB with Mr. T., we will be getting together at Racquet’s Edge again this Sunday (1/29) at 1 PM, yes this is after the Fraser Campout. If you, filled out a waiver form last time you do not need to fill one out again. Cost will be $5pp, unless you are a RE member. Because he is working with 11 boys, Mr. T can use one or two parents who can stick around to help out with timing, record keeping and just keeping the overall chaos to a minimum. Testing shouldn’t take any longer than 45 minutes.

3. National Jamboree - For those boys who think they may be interested in going to the national Jamboree in 2013 which is less than 540 days away and for those boys and parents who think they are NOT interested there are many, many “you tube” videos of 2013 jamboree, the Bechtel Summit Reserve, and much more. The videos can be found at: http://www.youtube.com/TheBechtelSummit These videos will give you an idea what to expect at the National Jamboree, what activities will be offered, and a whole lot more. Especially check out the zip line and the white water rafting. Cool Stuff! Traditionally, there is usually way more stuff to do at the Jamboree that can possibly be done in 10 days. Imagine that! Also, you will see this is not “HOT” Fort AP Hill, Virginia. The new permanent home of the National Jamboree is nestled in the beautifully Appalachian Mountains of West Virginia. This promises to be the best Jambo ever and an opportunity for a once in a life time adventure for all scouts. Reserve your spot now! To find out more about the “pre-Jambo” tour and how to register for Jambo go to: http://www.scoutingvermont.org/jamboree Or give Mr. T a call at (802)879-9470.

Thanks, Mr. T! I'd like to add that the troop committee has again promised $300 per scout toward the cost of Jambo.

MERIT BADGES: Last week for our MB month. Again, be sure to have your blue cards and any assignments for your MB counselors.

AVIATION: Thanks to Mr. Ouellette and Mrs. Feliciano for offering the Aviation MB. The boys enjoyed the first session over the weekend and are looking forward to next week. Same Bat-time, same Bat-channel, guys. (For you young'uns, that means same place, same time as last week.)

WINTER SPORTS MONTH: February will be Winter sports month, beginning with cross-country ski and snowshoe night on Feb. 1. Bring your own or use the EMS equipment. Some parents are needed to go along as well.

PLC: Our next PLC meeting will be next Wed., Feb. 1 at 5:45 at EMS.

That's all for now, folks. See you tomorrow night!

Troop 635 - Suggestions for Steven's tag line?
Hey, everyone.

Just a few quick things this week.

First, I will not be at the meeting this week, as I have a speaking
engagement for my "other" job. (Well, it's a living.) Anyway, Mr.
Thompson will be there, so you still have to act like quasi-civilized
people, OK? Please be nice to him.

***PLEASE plan to arrive at the meeting in time for our 6:30 start.
We've been quite lax about this and we waste a fair amount of time at
each meeting. We'll be starting at 6:30. Also, please wear your
uniform.

MERIT BADGE MONTH: We'll continue working on merit badges this week.
Don't forget your homework! Remember that our very kind MB counselors
are volunteering their time, so please respect that and be prepared
for this meeting. Please be sure to bring paper and pencils to the
meeting. Don't forget your blue cards!!!

EAGLE COURT: Mike Fraser's Eagle Court of Honor was amazing! The
Frasers planned a beautiful ceremony. Thanks to all of you who
participated and attended. Congrats to Mike!

FRASER CAMP: For high school scouts only. Saturday, Jan. 28 -
Sunday, Jan. 29 at the Fraser camp in Duxbury. We'll need another
parent or two to help keep the herd in check. Please return the
attached permission slip ASAP. Also, remember that somebody's going
to have to cook, so....

OK, I think that's it for now. Short and sweet, right? Have a great
meeting tomorrow and I'll see you all next week.

Troop 635 - Still working on Steven's tag line.
We are excited to announce that Carol Feliciano and Mike Ouellete are offering the Aviation Merit Badge for the first time! ;)
For this merit badge we will be viisting the Burlington Air Traffic Control Tower, learn all about planes and how they work, play on a flight simulator and make a FPG-9 airplane model.
We will be meeting on Sunday afternoons at Essex Middle School for two meeting dates - Jan. 22nd and Jan. 29th.
We will determine the date of the visit to the air traffic control tower at a later date.

Please use the following link to sign up for this merit badge.

I've attached a patrol roster so you can all be sure where you belong.

Troop 635 - Hooray for Hollywood!
Hey, guys.

A quick change regarding merit badges:

Mr. Watts will be doing Robotics, rather than Mr. Dirmaier.

I believe Nick Peterson will still be doing Cinematography, however he may not be available for all four weeks.

Mrs. Bovee will be doing E-Prep.

Mrs. Fleury will be doing Communications.

Please let me know which you'd like to do, if you haven't already.

Thanks!

Happy New Year!

I hope you all enjoyed your time off and spent some quality time with your friends and families. As you may have noticed, I took a little time off as well, and skipped last week's update. Yup, I'm a rebel, don't you forget it.

Soooo, here's what you need to know this week.

Thanks again to you all for doing your part to support our troop for yet another fantastic year of Scouting. Special thanks to the Watts' and the Sharps for handling all the money.

4. MERIT BADGE MONTH: Yup, it's that time. We'll kick off the new year with a month of merit badge work. If you have not yet signed up for a badge, please do so now. Yes, NOW. I'd really like to give our counselors a close-to-accurate count for their groups. So reply to me now, please. Your choices are: Emergency Preparedness (*Eagle required), Robotics, and Cinematograpy. If you've made arrangements to work on another badge, please let me know that too. Please be sure to bring paper and pencils to the meeting.
